Look for things designed for
Look for things designed for camping. You can get bottles with built-in filters that are more-or-less the same size as regular water bottles.
Another thing you can do -- shake it up (aerate it) and let it sit in an open container for an hour. (Put in ice if you want it really cold.) It won't get rid of things like heavy metals, but it will do a lot for chlorine, sulfur, and other "odors" that evaporate.
