Walk away? Maybe
When I want to make an un-planned/impulse purchase that I can probably afford, I walk away long enough to finish my planned purchases in that store. If I am still thinking about the item when I'm ready to leave, I go back and look at it again, and I ask myself, "Will I be sorrier that I DIDN'T buy the ____, or that I DID?" Then I purchase (or not) accordingly. I have never been disappointed when I followed this rule.
