When you see the price per barrel decreasing, there will probably be a dip at the pump. Don't fill your tank, put in what you need every day or two. This way you will not be carrying an inventory in your car. (Considering the price will probably go down more every couple of days).

When it looks like it's going up, this is when you fill your tank. Believe it or not, this can save You a lot of money over time.

I agree

I agree de_nos. I travel 59 miles a day for work. I would lose about half of my gas tank everyday. A friend told me to drive between 60-65 mph in the slower lanes. It worked. My commute takes a quarter tank or less each trip.

Discount Gas

Check for offers like the ones  food markets offer. Using your loyalty card often adds "fuel points" for most commonly bought items. I save .80 Cents per gallon in a month. Catch is, its good for one fill up and only one gas station in town accepts the points. My wife and I fill both our cars on one transaction...that's one fill up right? ;)

driving habits

Try to plan your trips in a circle so there is no back tracking. Also, make sure your car is maintained, oil changed regularly, tires properly inflated and have your tune up on the regular intervals. And for the ones with the lead foot, I would recommend laying off the throttle and you will see an increase in fuel economy.

Every person wants to know

Every person wants to know the ways they can save probably the most gas. Although you will find goods around that will allegedly help with this, a lot of that isn’t accurate. Hypermiling is one thing that is scientific. However, one driving technique that some associate with fuel economy - coasting in neutral as the engine is idling - has little to do with, reports Popular Mechanics. It is also very dangerous to do.
