Do You Really Save $$$?

"They" say bake to save money, but when butter is $1.59 lb, flour $1.89, sugar $2.39 (all bought at a "discount" grocery store), you only yield a few batches of cookies (100 at best). Isn't it cheaper to buy 3 packages of cookies (100 count) for $5??? Granted, the store bought cookies aren't as "good" for you, but they are cheaper for the kids' lunches...What am I missing? When you have 4 kids & a hubby, a pan of rice krispie treats only last 10 minutes :)

Don't have cookies in lunches
Don't have cookies in lunches so often! When you see baking supplies on sale, stock up. You can freeze butter and baked treats for later. Take them out the night before to thaw and then put them in lunches every other day or only once a week. They'll last longer and you won't be feeding your family so many yucky things that are in the storebought cookies.
buy fruit from the current
buy fruit from the current season that's cheap or on sale and not junk food. not only is it healthier and less expensive, think of the med cost down the road.
